Hi! I left a comment in the past explaining that I purchased this pack and am using songs from it in my game and gave you proper credits. I love the songs and feel that they sound great in my game.
However, I recently found that one of your songs being used, "Time for Sacrifice", received a copyright claim. This led to a video only posted on May 12th 2024 which uses part of your song within their original song. This has led to issues with youtubers who wanted to cover my game as the song is no longer youtube safe.
The video which claims to be the song "The Way Out":
ends up using your song about 36 seconds in. I am disputing the claim as they obviously do not own the rights to the song to be able to copyright others using it and they also do not credit you. I don't know if you have a problem with them using your music this way and claiming it as their own, so although I am disputing the claim, you may want to follow up as well.
Edit: I've looked into this a bit more and it looks like the group claiming to own the copyright "Kontor New Media Music" are notorious for bogus claims for music that they don't own. There are many posts of people having their own original music claimed by them.
Edit 2: So Kontor New Media Music released the claim on that specific video (of course they did) but unfortunately any new videos will still get copyright claimed. This means that any content creators who cover my game will have their videos claimed as well. Looking into submitting a copyright removal request, it looks like only the owner of the work is able to take this action to have the video/claim permanently removed.
For the meantime, I may unfortunately need to switch to a different song for that part of the game. But hopefully if you are able to get that copyright removed from these frauds who claim to own your song I will gladly re-add it!
Those people are putting ID content on music using royalty-free samples. And they are not allowed to do that ( it's specified on the sample license ). So basically, every time someone is using a royalty free sample ( a drone for exemple, or a group of samples together ) that has been " ID content ", every people who are using those samples in their music are "flagged". Which it shouldn't be. I released those tracks one year ago, and the YT music you show me is only a few month old. But i didn't Content ID them ( respecting the license ), the other guy did... . There is a lot of YT videos of producers talking about those Content ID issues with Youtube analysis.
If YT "hears" the content ID sample, boom. But most of the time no restriction occurs. They just tell you it's from this or those songs but it doesn't impact your video or monetization.
So don't worry for the legal issues of copyright, it's owned by the CREATOR of the samples ( not by any of the creator of the final music ) used and detected on the ID content, in our case not KONTOR.
Content ID Youtube policies are cristal clear : Only original music is eligible for YouTube Content ID, meaning samples or any other elements that are deemed a copyright infringement on YouTube’s policy, are denied YouTube Content ID
Imagine selling a sample pack : You own the copyright but you sell the right for a client to use it and enjoy royalties ( like Splice, Loopmasters, Ghosthack etc... ). If a client Content ID your samples, every future customer using your sample pack can receive a claim. That's why they, on purpose, forbid the use of Content ID for YT. It's like stealing their samples. It's copyright infrigement. KONTOR by content ID this song is in a copyright infrigement with the sample owner ( Ghosthack Samples in this case ).
KONTOR is not "directly" in fault, it's the artist using the KONTOR services who claimed to have created an original song which is not.
Thanks for telling me about the issue. I'll fix this.
Hi! I just purchased this pack (I've actually been using it for a while but now that the demo release is going live on Steam soon and I know I'm going to use it, I wanted to support you as well). Your songs have a pretty big presence in my game if you want to check it out:
